Bedroom Renovation 70s Home – Minimal Bedroom in Black and White

6/29/2017

It’s taken a while for me to get to the stage of showing you our new bedroom. There was so much to do. Our bedroom renovation actually ended up being a much bigger one than expected. First we removed the damp smelling pink carpet (!), then realised there was no insulation downstairs and also had a re wire of all the electrics, and new plumbing including new radiators. This all happened before we even started to think about what we wanted the room to look like. After the textured walls had been plastered and we had new plasterboard walls to replace the cabin like feel, we discovered something quite unique. We had a parquet floor! This was a nice bonus after all the problems we came across. Oh, I forgot to mention that we replaced the window too.. ! So, with the parquet floor pretty much intact and ready to go, I started to source products. I found a gorgeous bed from Time4Sleep. We have quite a lot of storage in our new home, but it’s always handy to have more and I was very happy to discover this storage bed. I have room for all our bedding, extra pillows and my many blankets. It’s really great to have so much extra space. I’ll show you more details soon.

The beige colour goes really well with our dark parquet flooring and white walls. You can find the bed I chose here. I really like having a headboard as we’ve not had one since we lived in France. It adds to the bedroom and makes it more tactile with the soft mink fabric and I think it’s a little more grown up too. No I’m not really grown up yet, but I can pretend can’t I?

The stunning lamps are all from David Village Lighting. They have a huge selection of great designer brands, so we ordered everything from there. The wall lamps are by Gubi, Grossman Cobra lights (find them here), ceiling light is by Marset – Plaff-on! 33 Ceiling Light (link here) and the table lamps are by Gubi and Foscarini.

You can find more details about the Pedrera H20 Table lamp here and the Foscarini Yoko Table light here.

Other items in this posts. The stunning black and white wool rug is from Made find it here. Native Union charging cable click here. The linen sheets are from H&M. Aesop products, always! They smell so good. You can find a large selection here.

I’ve still not decided on bedside tables, so I’m using chairs for now. This one is from &Tradition and you can order it from Houseology. I’m a big believer in living somewhere for a while before you buy everything. I need to think about things for a while, hence nothing on the wall yet.. Things take time. I don’t like rushing into things.

The existing built in wardrobes were removed and we’ve now got IKEA PAX wardrobes. I’m still not sure I want handles on the doors, so for now we’ve got the push function. We’ve also got a gorgeous new designer radiator in black from Best Heating. All of our radiators are from here and they’re keeping us nice and warm. The cool design makes a big difference to the gold radiators that were there originally. They work much better too.

Want to see what the bedroom looked like before?! Here it is! It’s changed a bit don’t you think? It didn’t use to be quite as minimal as it is now. I’ll show you more soon, as I’ve just hung up some lovely prints and some linen curtains.
