Custom Made Curtains

There’s no denying it, curtains are definitely enjoying a renaissance right now.
A little while ago I had a personal design consultation from Thomas Sanderson. Although I held on to the original 1970s mustard yellow curtains which came with the house, I had been looking for fresh, new designs for a couple of rooms in our home for a while. Thomas Sanderson has a large collection of fabrics to choose from in many colours and patterns, but I wanted something to compliment my otherwise minimalist interiors. True to my Norwegian roots, I’m all about creating a soothing, neutral home.
Windows are notoriously difficult to dress and luxury, custom made curtains are always an investment, so it was great to have expert guidance through the process. Following a home consultation where the windows were measured, I settled on Fagel Silver fabric which I’m really pleased with. Lined with a special thermal fabric, they help to keep out the cold for Winter, ideal for our 1970s home.
You can choose from a number of ways to hang your curtains, from pinch and pencil pleats to eyelets. I wanted mine to sit well with minimal attention to the pole above, (I chose Silver Metropole with stud finials), so I opted for a wave finish. This means that the curtains are hooked on the Ripple Track at equal lengths, staying uniform whenever they’re drawn closed or open. Installation was really easy – a qualified installer arrived with them ready to go and steamed them once they were up.
I think it gives them a simple, understated feel and they look so cosy and cocooning in the evenings. Overall I’ve been really impressed with Thomas Sanderson’s customer service. I recommend you take a look at their custom curtain design service if you’re looking for an expert step by step experience.
As these are not at all normal times, I have included a message from Thomas Sanderson in regards to how they now work.
We’re pleased to announce that we are returning to work. However, the continued safety of our customers and colleagues remains our number one priority, so we’ve put significant changes in place to protect the health and wellbeing of all. We will continue to offer the exceptional in-home consultations on bespoke shutters, blinds and curtains as before but with a few changes.
These changes include only holding consultations if both our designers and customers have been symptom-free for 14 days, designers observing strict social distancing measures throughout the consultation as well as designers wearing personal protective equipment.
