AD | GEORG JENSEN SUMMER ON OUR NEW GARDEN TERRACE

We’ve just finished refreshing our garden deck and I couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy it than with a relaxed summer celebration with Georg Jensen.

With all the time we’ve had to spend at home, we wanted a nice space to enjoy. We’ve managed to transform a very tired looking decking with some black wood stain. It’s made a huge difference in how we spend our time here as a family and a few simple changes mean I’m no longer staring out at an unloved terrace needing attention. I love how it brings out the deep green of the surrounding bushes, defining the space at the same time. Inspired by my recent outdoor furniture post, I’ve kept the furniture contemporary and minimal.

The Henning Koppel vase sets the scene on the table with beautiful Summer flowers and I’m sure we’ll have many a meal out here on our new garden terrace in time to come. It’s such a lovely space to have.

The porcelain Cobra collection is my go-to favourite tableware from Georg Jensen – it’s a future classic. You can rely on it time and time again for everyday meal times, yet its organic shapes lend it an artisanal feel for special occasions. Created by the award-winning designer Constantin Wortmann, the collection features a soft, curving motif inspired by its namesake.

The cutlery designed by no other than Arne Jacobsen, is such a treat to set the table with. His “less is more” approach to design is really reflected in this cutlery set. You can see the collection here. It’s beautiful and I love the shape of it.

I’ve created a simple cheese platter using a smoked oak Sky serving board. Its smooth, sculptural shape makes our summer favourites of cheese, fresh fruit and locally made bread look effortlessly stylish. Designed by Aurelien Barbry, the cheese knife has several small holes in the blade which stops the cheese from sticking to it which makes serving easier, too. You can find the set here

I’m so looking forward to enjoying our garden from here now. It just goes to show how a few small changes make such an impact with just a little effort.
