AD | My workspace with a new office chair from Flokk

My workspace has undergone a bit of a makeover recently, see what it used to look like here. It’s almost four years since we moved in and now I’ve had plenty of time to work out how I’m using the space, I felt it needed better functionality to support that. I’ll be sharing the new look in a series of updates with you soon! For now, you can catch a sneak peek of the space as I tell you about my indispensable new office chair from Flokk.

Working from home, I’m used to using a dining chair to sit at my desk which, as stylish as it looks, does nothing to support my back long term. After using completely the wrong chair at completely the wrong height, I started experiencing awful lower back pains. And yet, as ergonomic office chairs go, they’re not exactly at the forefront of aesthetically pleasing design, so you can understand the reluctance to invest in something I didn’t absolutely love.

Flokk, is a Norwegian based company specialising in contemporary workspace design. Sustainable furniture has been their focus long before it was ever the buzz word of the moment, with over 40 years experience producing designs made from recycled materials such as polypropylene, steel and aluminium. Flokk is an umbrella for several Scandinavian office brands who share a common vision, including HÅG whose Capisco Puls 8010 chair has recently found a new home here.

HÅG Capisco Puls 8010

Understanding how important it is for workspace furniture to be flexible and adaptable to your needs, the HÅG Capisco Puls 8010 can be configured to your exact specifications. Inspired by the horseback rider’s saddle, it encourages correct posture. Based on the idea that your next seating position is the best one, the chair uses a clever balance system to keep your core engaged and active, pivoting as you move. The result of a collaboration between HÅG and Oslo based designer Peter Opsvik, the Capisco revolutionised ergonomic chair design and quite frankly, it’s a joy to use.

The HÅG Capisco Puls 8010 is the lighter version of its original with a moulded plastic shell and integrated seat. I went for the clay colour with a chrome set of castor wheels. You can see the exact configuration here.  I really enjoyed designing my own chair. There are plenty of colour options. You can have fun designing your own chair here.

I can adjust the height of the seat all the way up to standing (if I want to) and it’s much more dynamic to use that a static chair. It looks completely at home within my minimal workspace and looks like a sculptural statement rather than a clumpy, awkward addition.

an office chair with great foot support

The chair is really easy to move around, which is great as I use my office both as an office and a studio, so flexibility is key. Another thing I enjoy about this chair is the fact that you have the option of using the chair back to front. You also great good foot support. Have a look at this short video about how many options there are. It’s really great to see how versatile this chair is.

As more of us are working from home now, I can highly recommend this comfy chair. I spend hours here every day and it’s great not having the back pain I was experiencing any more.
