In our house we we’re lucky to have a utility room, however it was cold and miserable, so I never felt like spending much time there. Since before Christmas we’ve be renovating and it feels so good to have a brand new, fully functional laundry room to go to. I actually like spending time in this room now.
I will show you the final result next week, but first the mood board. I’ve chosen warm neutral colours that go with the rest of the house. I hope you will appreciate the details as much as I do.
In our laundry room we have two brand new machines, both by Miele. I had heard so many positive reviews about this brands from both friends and tradesmen. Having tried the machines for a couple of weeks, they are both brilliant. I caught up on the washing within a couple of days.
We’ve never had a dryer before and this has seriously changed my life! I’m actually serious. It’s so nice to dry the washing straight away. It used to take ages to dry things here. We live in Scotland and it rains a lot, so we can’t put the washing out that often. I’m so glad the washing no longer has to clutter up the house.
The floor tiles are called Sintesis Marfil and are from CTD Tiles. They also come in different sizes. You can find our more here. The tiles I chose are 600×600 mm. This is a luxury porcelain natural effect tile and I think it goes perfectly with the rest of the materials used.
You probably already know Custom Fronts, but if you don’t they make panels and doors for Ikea units. I had a unit left over from our kitchen renovations, so it was natural to use it to add a sink and some storage in the washing room.
You might remember this kitchen I styled for Custom Fronts last year. I loved their work so much, that I chose to use them for our washing room. I can’t wait to show you the details. The white oiled birch ply door has a very cool cut out oblong hand-routed handle can see it here. I’m so glad we added a small sink and a tap, as I’ve already used it quite a lot.
I’ll show you all the details in my next post!
