Home Tour | A peek into Ida Thun’s beautiful home @bythun

4/19/2020

I’ve been admiring the photos by Ida Thun @bythun for a long time and wanted to share her Instagram account with you. So let’s have a peek into Ida’s beautiful home and find out a bit more about her!

I’m a 28-year-old photo enthusiast with a growing interest for interior. I’m originally from a small town in Sweden, but about two years ago my husband and I moved to Dublin, Ireland. When I was living in Sweden I worked as a pre-school teacher but I now work as a freelance photographer mostly focusing on content photography for interior brands. I’m also a social media manager.

I’m a person that gets easily stressed and tired when there’s too much going on around me. So my home needs to be a calm and relaxing space where I can recharge my energy. Therefore I’ve chosen a neutral colour palette with few distracting patterns, I guess you could say I have a typical Scandinavian style.

I don’t actively look up and follow trends, but I get a lot of my inspiration for our home from Instagram so I’m sure I’ve followed a few trends. For example, I love the dried flower trend, it’s perfect for me who can’t keep a green plant alive for more than a few weeks.

IKEA BENCH DIY

I’ve done a few simple DIY:s, but there’s one that’s been really popular and that’s my IKEA bench DIY.

It’s a Skogsta bench from IKEA. I painted it black and then twined the rope around the two separate seating boards with a 3mm cotton rope (it took about 400 m of rope for this bench). An easy and somewhat quick DIY!

Can you recommend 3 accounts to follow?

I could recommend a whole lot more but 3 of my favorite would be (in no particular order) @vittvittvitt @stylingbydenice and @thedesignchaser.

Thank you so much, Ida! It’s been lovely taking a peek into your beautiful, calm home. If you would like to see more Ida, you can follow her on Instagram @bythun.

How many of you are going to copy this brilliant DIY? I love it!

All photos are by Ida Thun with thanks!
