When we lived in France our home, although it was brand new, consisted of mostly vintage furniture and things I picked up from local markets. Recently I feel like many designers are going back to that and moving away from only having new designer furniture in their homes and designs. It makes things more interesting if you mix it up a bit, don’t you think? I always pick up accessories when I travel. I like having memories of places I have visited. On Viyet I’ve noticed a great mix of unique pieces for design lovers who like something different.
I think this eclectic home by Alvhem has a nice feel to it. A mixture of old and new it somehow all works so well together. The hugely popular IVAR cabinets by IKEA look great with trendy posters and accessories. In the dining room you can find a unique dining table with a mix of chairs. Not only a mix of chairs in the sense of different types of chairs, but also old and new.
By painting the double doors black, you almost frame the dining room. It makes everything stand out and look very peaceful. The light grey walls in colored plaster are beautiful and it’s something I would love to try in my own home. I’ve seen some stunning pictures on Kabe Copenhagen.
It’s always fun to find unique designer pieces. I love going to markets and miss the weekly bric-a-bracs in France. You never new what you were going to find. Sometimes nothing and other times something more exciting. Check out the unusual wall art in the pictures. It’s definitely something you’ll find on the high street.
I really like this strange mix. It makes me feel like finding out more, like the apartment has a story to tell.
